The Partnership for a Drug-Free Hall will host two The Fight Against Fentanyl forums on December 8 to create awareness about drug use.
The first forum will be held at Gainesville High School for students only inside the Student Activity Center from 9:30-11:00 a.m.
At the morning event, City of Gainesville Police Chief Jay Parrish and other law enforcement representatives will share the realities of Fentanyl and how the drug is being marketed.
The Hub at Gainesville High School will host the second event which is free and open to all community members from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Jay Parrish will be back at the nighttime community event to educate attendees on the warning signs of illegal substance use, how to detect it and how to help somebody when they’re struggling with opioid misuse.
Both sessions will be live-streamed and recorded for later viewing at DrugFreeHall.org.
The focus of the campaign is to share the realities of the fatal drug Fentanyl from multiple perspectives and how it is affecting Georgia as a whole.

150 people die EVERY DAY from synthetic opioids (mostly Fentanyl)
In Georgia, from 2019 to 2021, drug overdose deaths increased by 61 percent and Fentanyl-involved overdose deaths increased by 230 percent.
Fentanyl-involved overdose deaths rose 800 percent in adolescents aged 10-19 in the same period.
