Gainesville's Belmont Baptist Church broke ground Sunday on the construction of their new church located on Candler Road.
The church, which is currently located at 3635 Belmont Highway in Gainesville, will start construction on its new facility at 3350 Candler Road in 2024.
The church said 135 of its members and friends gathered at the new site Sunday to hold the groundbreaking and a Thanksgiving ceremony.
"The day was a culmination of a dream which began 20+ years earlier by members no longer living," the church said in a release.
The event featured worship music, preaching, lunch, various speakers, pictures and prayer.
"Belmont is looking forward to the dream becoming a reality so that they can continue to reach their community with the message of hope only found in Salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord," the release said.
