Girls basketball: Buford, Chestatee, Branch take wins; Lumpkin, Johnson fall

BUFORD, Ga. — The Buford girls won their third straight game with a dominating 63-38 win over Harrison on Tuesday at The Buford Arena.

The Lady Wolves (3-1) opened the game with a 19-10 run and then blew the game open with a 20-10 third quarter for 52-30 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Ava Grave Watson led Buford with 19 points, 12 coming in the first half. Alyssa Green added 15 with 10 of her points coming in the second half for the Lady Wolves.

Sloane Vick paced Harrison (3-1) with 18 points. But she was held to just one 3-points basket after halftime.

Buford is off Dec. 9 when the Lady Wolves will take on Central Macon at 1 p.m. at Grayson.


CHESTATEE 68
LUMPKIN COUNTY 47

Riley Black poured in 25 points to pace the Lady War Eagles to a win at the Lynn Cottrell Complex.

Caroline Bull added 14 points, Addison Boyd had 10, and Payton Cable 8 points for Chestatee (3-1). 

Averie Jones led Lumpkin County (1-1) with 15 points.

Chestatee is off until opening Region 8-4A play against Johnson next Tuesday at home.

Lumpkin County next will play host to Fannin County on Saturday at 1 p.m.


FLOWERY BRANCH 54,
FORSYTH CENTRAL 37

The Lady Falcons used a 15-2 first quarter to take a quick lead en route to their first win of the season.

They did not let up in the second quarter, outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 21-6 for a 36-8 halftime lead.

Jess Tamplin paced the Lady Falcons with 18 points. Amiya Scott had 16
And Kaitlin Cagliolosi 9 points for Branch.

Branch (1-3) next travels to Habersham Central on Friday.


FRANKLIN COUNTY 58,
JOHNSON 17

The Lady Lions swept the season series with the Lady Knights, taking a win at Johnson on Tuesday.

Franklin County (3-2) held Johnson (2-2) scoreless in the third quarter and to just 4 points in the second half,

Sophomores Ta'Kaiha Winkfield and Keely Emmons each poured in 14 points to lead Franklin County as nine different players scored.

Harbor Landers paced Johnson with 6 points. Marijane See, Ashley Tran, and Ana Garcia each had 3 points for the Lady Knights.

Johnson will be back in action on Thursday at home against Cedar Shoals to open Region 8-4A play.
