Public Remembrance Ceremony to be held Friday for Jeremy Medina

By AccessWDUN Staff

The Gainesville community is invited to attend a public remembrance ceremony Friday evening commemorating the life of Gainesville High School Senior and baseball player Jeremy Medina.

Medina recently passed away following a tragic November 20 accident at the Gainesville High School batting cages. He was practicing at the facility when he was accidentally struck in the head by a baseball bat, leading to extensive injuries.

According to a social media post from the Medina family, the Remembrance Ceremony will be held Friday, Dec. 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Gainesville High School Gym. The event is open to the community.

Those who wish to speak at the event on Medina's impact are asked to email [email protected]. Interested speakers should include their organization's name and the speaker's name.

"We look forward to your presence and participation in this special event," the post reads. "Your words and memories will undoubtedly bring comfort and solace to all who attend. Together, we can honor Jeremy's legacy and find strength in the memories we share."

Additionally, the post said a viewing and celebration of life for Medina will be held the next day, Saturday, Dec. 30, at First Baptist Church Gainesville.

The viewing will run from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday, while the Celebration of Life will run from 2 to 4 p.m.
