Hawaiian restaurant coming to Jesse Jewell Parkway

The founders of King’s Hawaiian are bringing a new restaurant concept to Gainesville this spring featuring Hawaiian-themed food.

Hello Hilo will offer handcrafted food products inspired by traditional Hawaiian fare. The restaurant is named after Hilo, Hawaii, where the Taira family started King’s Hawaiian more than 70 years ago.

Hello Hilo will be located on the corner of Limestone and Jesse Jewell Parkway. According to a release, the restaurant hopes to offer something different amid a bustling area of town. They plan to decorate the property with lush greenery and a colorful exterior, modeled after structures found on the biggest island in Hawaii.

The menu will feature a variety of different items, including breakfast, lunch and dinner options, a kids menu, snacks, drinks and dessert treats.

They plan to install many different art pieces inside, hosting an open-kitchen theme and indoor dining leading into a covered outdoor patio. There will also be a covered double drive-thru with online ordering capabilities.

“We want to continue sharing what makes Hawaii such a special place through Hawaii-inspired food and the ‘Aloha Spirit’,” said Courtney Taira, granddaughter of King’s Hawaiian founder Robert R. Taira. “The Northeast Georgia community has become part of our ohana (family) over the past decade. This is the right place to bring Hello Hilo to life.

Hello Hilo plans to open in late spring of 2023 and will create approximately 100 full and part-time jobs in Gainesville. The restaurant will begin recruiting in April.
