A recent Southern Living article has proclaimed Dahlonega to be Georgia’s Best Small Town in 2023.
In a Tuesday story, Southern Living staffer Mary Shannon Wells described the area as “magical”, citing the town square’s Hallmark Christmas movie feeling, historic buildings and small businesses as contributors to what makes the town so special.
"I think the term 'magical' is overused, but it does kind of feel that way here,” The Fudge Factory and The Corner Kitchen owner, Tony Ownes, told Southern Living. "It almost feels... It’s just… there’s something special about this place."
Wells also highlighted the several restaurants and shops in the area, including My Vintage Gypsy Teas, Crown & Bear ,Wolf Mountain Vineyards and other local businesses that bring culture to Dahlonega.
Southern Living also announced its Top 10 List for The South’s Best Small Towns and The South’s Best Cities.
Dahlonega and Tybee Island ranked number four and seven on the list for South’s Best Small Town and Savannah, Atlanta and Alpharetta ranked numbers two, four and nine repectively on the list for the South’s Best Cities.
