SUGAR HILL, Ga. — North Forsyth struggled to find home plate as Lanier handed the Raiders their first Region 8-6A loss, 2-0, on Wednesday.
With the loss, the Raiders (17-7, 12-1 Region 8-6A) remain four games ahead of Lanier in first place.
Lanier scored one earned run on a groundout in the first inning; the other, Martinez, who reached on a dropped third strike earlier, strolled home on an Adrian Jimenez single to right field in the third.
Jimenez drove in the Longhorns' first run in the first inning on a ground out. He finished the day 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
The Raiders left seven runners on while only recording four hits.
Ultimately, it was a pitcher's duel, with Caleb Fones getting the win for the Longhorns, allowing four hits while striking out seven in the complete-game performance. Parker Adams was just as good, allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits over six innings while striking out seven.
Brody Holbrook, Jake Prince, Kyle Duckwall and Mason Glennon collected one hit each for the Raiders.
