Gainesville and Buford City School Systems are among the most equitable in Georgia

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

Equitability in school districts can be pivotal for community development and stability.  A recent report ranks Georgia 19th among the states nationwide in being the most equitable, but that's largely due to the success of some Northeast Georgia school districts.

WalletHub.com lists Gainesville City School district as the most equitable district within Georgia, followed in second by Buford's City School district and Commerce City Schools coming in third.

School systems in Northeast Georgia coming in much further down the list include Forsyth County School District, Dawson County School District and the City of Decatur School System.

The report is based on criteria of average household income, and expenditures for public elementary and secondary schools per student.
