Hall County to allow burning by residents with proper permits

By Will Daughtry News Reporter

Beginning on Tuesday, Hall County residents will be allowed to burn with proper permits.

There will be two types of permits Hall County will offer, consisting of residential burn permits and land-clearing/commercial burn permits.

A residential permit is for residents to clear their yards of limbs and leaves. A residential burn permit can be obtained at www.hallcounty.org/196/Fire-Services. The link at the top should allow you to submit information to receive a burn permit number.

The land-clearing and commercial burn permit is regulated by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EDP) guidelines and requires inspection by the Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Land-clearing is defined by Hall County Fire Rescue as removal of trees for residential or commercial purposes. The burn pit must meet EDP guidelines and an air curtain destruct or present before burning.

To do that, you can contact the Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office at (770) 531-6838 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. a minimum of 24-hours before the requested burn day.
