Final phases for Lake Lanier Olympic Park venue construction will begin this month

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

The Lake Lanier Olympic Park (LLOP) Foundation is happy to announce that they will be staring Phases 3 and 4 of their park master plan in the weeks ahead.

A release from the LLOP Legacy Club announced Tuesday that they will break ground on October 17 at a special event to kick off the construction of a new picnic pavilion located in the park, close to the beach and family gathering areas.  The final phases will also include completion of the Riverwalk, including a boardwalk under Clarks Bridge Road, that will provide added connectivity between the Boathouse and Tower sides of the park, while adding improvements to the nature trail and footbridge replacement.

In honor of the LLOP Legacy's projects, officials will recognize the works of the original Gainesville-Hall '96 Tri-Chairs, Steve Gilliam, Mary Hart Wilheit, and the late Jim Mathis, Jr. with a dedication ground breaking ceremony, starting at 5:30 p.m. on October 17th.

The projects are being funded through membership and donations to the LLOP Legacy Club.  Officials encourage anyone wishing to become a member or to contribute to the Phases 3 and 4 projects to lend their support to go online at:  Lake Lanier Olympic Park Foundation - Olympic Legacy Club (bidpal.net).  If you wish to attend the ground breaking ceremonies, please RSVP by October 9 to [email protected] or by calling  (770) 297-5499.
