Threats made toward Rabun County High School Tuesday leads to one student's arrest

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

Rabun County Sheriff's Office (RCSO) and local law enforcement in Clayton are dealing with a recent incident that resulted in charges against a student of the local high school.

A press release Wednesday from the RCSO says they responded, along with Student Response Officers (SRO) to reports of a domestic disturbance that involved a 15-year old student within the city limits of Clayton on Tuesday, October 8.  Upon the student's arrival to the Rabun County High School campus Tuesday morning, SRO's located the unidentified student to check on their welfare.

The RCSO release adds that while speaking to the SRO's and the student's legal guardian while on the campus, the student then, "made violent threats against the school."

Deputies immediately arrested the juvenile on charges of making terroristic threats and acts, and could face additional charges, while the case remains under investigation.

A social media post from the RCSO said no injuries were reported during the incident, and the incident is being turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice for further investigation. A link to the RCSO Facebook video following the incident can be found, here.
