Boys basketball: GHS, WHall, Buford pick up wins

On Saturday, the Gainesville boys basketball team defeated Westlake, 64-53, in the Hard in the Paint Classic at Maynard Jackson. 

The Red Elephants led by two points at halftime. 

KJ White led Big Red with 15 points and nine assists. Caden Jackson added 14, Charlie Gersmehl had 13 and eight rebounds. Jaxon Jones scored eight points and pulled six rebounds, and Luke Nordholz chipped in six. 

On Friday, the Red Elephants fell to McEachern 87-55. KJ White led the way with 14 points, six assists, and five rebounds, while Jaxson Jones added 10 points and seven rebounds, and Charlie Gersmel scored 11 points.

Gainesville (2-2) opens up region play on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Johns Creek.

COMMERCE 53 OT

Xavier Felix led the Spartans with 19 points, and Troy Smith added 14 in the overtime win over Commerce on the road Saturday. 

Landon Bennett finished with 10. 


BUFORD 74,
CEDAR SHOALS 65

Dillon Nixon and Edward Hunter III scored 18 points each to lead the Wolves past Cedar Shoals in the North Georgia Showcase on Saturday at Buford Arena. 

Deston Foote and Devin Hubbard led Cedar Shoals with 19 points each.
