By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

A suspect linked to last week's death of a Georgia State trooper in Gwinnett County is in custody.

Law enforcement from Georgia State Patrol and Gwinnett County Police on Friday arrested Gerson Ayala Rodriguez in Norcross for his alleged role in the death of Trooper Jimmy Cenescar.

Cenescar was pursuing Rodriquez last Sunday, January 28 for a traffic violation before he lost control of his patrol vehicle and crashed on Old Peachtree Road last Sunday as Rodriguez was allegedly speeding away on his motorcycle.

Cenescar died at the hospital from injuries sustained in the wreck a short time later.

Rodriguez faces felony murder, first-degree homicide, fleeing and attempting to elude, and other traffic charges.
