With most of the seedings set for the majority of region tournaments, Tuesday's action will almost serve as final tune-ups for teams looking to make a playoff push.
However, on the boys side in Region 8-2A, three teams are tied for first with just two games left. Union County (19-5, 6-3 Region 8-2A), Athens Academy (18-5, 6-3 Region 8-2A), and Providence Christian (15-9, 6-3 Region 8-2A) all are tied atop the standings and all three split their games during the regular season.
The tiebreaker possibilities are endless depending on Tuesday's outcomes for all three teams. But Union County is in the driver's seat. The Panthers travel to Fellowship Christian (8-15, 1-8 Region 8-2A) only needing a win over the Paladins to clinch the regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the tournament. Union County won the first meeting 91-39 in Roswell last month. If all three win on Tuesday, the Panthers' two wins over Banks County (14-10, 5-4 Region 8-2A) is the difference as both Athens Academy and Providence split with the Leopards.
In Region 8-A Division 2, the Towns County boys (16-5, 11-1 Region 8-A D2) can win the top seed with a win over Greene County (16-6, 10-2 Region 8-A D1) at home on Tuesday. A Tigers win, however, would tie things up with one game left.
The Lakeview Academy girls (20-1, 4-0 GIAA Region 4A/3A) can cinch the regular season tile with a win over George Walton (17-2, 3-1 GIAA Region 4A/3A).
