Region 8-6A consolations: Gainesville boys and girls fall to Lanier

SNELLVILLE, Ga. — Lanier out scored Gainesville 26-9 in the final quarter to get the 52-45 win in the Region 8-6A consolation game at Shiloh on Friday.
The two teams were tied 26-26 going into the fourth quarter. 
Asja Howell scored all 18 points, 12 in the fourth to lead the Lady Lornhorns. Jordan Johnson added 15 for Lanier.
Kelsey Lester led Gainesville with 14 points, and Drea Maddox chipped in 12.
Lanier will be a No. 4 seed in the Class 6A tournament next week.
Gainesville will be a No. 4 seed.

Amari Morgan hit 1-of-2 foul shots with 3.5 second left in overtime to lead the Longhorns past Gainesville in the consolation game of the Region 8-6A tournament in Snellville.

Morgan finished with 15 points. He was one of three in double figures for the Longhorns.

Tahai Morgan led Lanier with 16 points, and DeAndre Cowan had 15.

Brandon Nelson led the Red Elephants with 14 points .Ellis Pitts had 11, and Zeke Amir and Jay Walls had eight each. 

Lanier will be the No. 3 seed in next week’s Class 6A tournament. Gainesville will be the No. 4 seed.
