Girls basketball playoffs: Lakeview, Rabun, Banks win region titles; LCA heads to GAPPS Final Four with win

Lakeview Academy captured its second straight Region 4-3A GIAA championship with a 45-35 win over George Walton on Friday.

Taliah Gaither led the the Lady Lions with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Dynesty Putman added 10 points, five rebounds and four steals. Emyrie Combs added 10 points and six assists, and Taylor Clark finished with 10.


RABUN COUNTY 57,
ATHENS CHRISTIAN 47

Lucy Hood scored a game-high 29 points to lead the Lady Wildcats to the Region 8-A Division 1 championship on Friday in Athens.

Ellie Southards added 11 points and five boards, and Mili Watts scored 10 points and had six rebounds.


LANIER CHRISTIAN 42,
PINECREST 32

Brenau-commit Jia Thaper scored 16 points to help the Lady Lightning knock off Pinecrest Friday night at home to reach the GAPPS semifinals.

Moriah Clark was big on the boards for LCA with 13 rebounds.

LCA was able to overcome a slow first-half start to pull ahead in the second half, thanks to an intense defensive effort.

Emma Flowers added 10 points and six rebounds. Ellie Roberts finished with six points and five rebounds, and Adeline Gough ripped down nine rebounds and five points.

LCA will travel to Gordon State College to play The King's Academy on Tuesday at 2 p.m.


BANKS COUNTY 49, 
UNION COUNTY  39

Ryleigh Murphy scored 15 points, and Reese Murphy had 12 to lead the Lady Leopards (23-4) past Union County to win the Region 8-2A championship at home on Friday. 

Carley Segars added 10 points in the win.
