Gwinnett County to hold Hazard Mitigation Plan update meeting

By Lawson Smith Anchor/Reporter

The Gwinnett County Office of Emergency Management will conduct a public meeting for residents to learn about and share comments on the 2025 Multijurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan update.

The meeting will be held on May 29 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Lilburn Activity Building, located at 788 Hillcrest Road in Lilburn.

“We invite you to participate in an essential community meeting regarding the update of your Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan,” a release from the office said. “Your input is crucial in helping us enhance our community's resilience to potential hazards and disasters.”

The plan covers all 16 cities and unincorporated areas within Gwinnett County.  The Federal Emergency Management Agency requires updates to the plan every five years to ensure Gwinnett County is eligible for federal funding. The funding is used to address problems identified in the plan, such as flooding, infrastructure improvements, natural resource protections, and more.

No RSVP is needed to attend the meeting.
