Authorities identify victim, arrest suspect in Saturday shooting near Lilburn

The Gwinnett County Police Department has identified the victim in a Saturday night shooting  just outside of Lilburn  as Terrence Weston, 28, of Lawrenceville. 
 
Weston was reportedly found dead from a gunshot wound  in the 3000 block of Betty Jean Court after callers reported hearing gunshots and screaming  at around  11:30 p.m. 
 
Gwinnett Police have arrested Ryan Abreu, 16, of Lawrenceville in the case. Abreu was charged as an adult  with  aggravated assault, felony murder, possession of a firearm by a person under 18 years old, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.  
 
An initial investigation into the shooting revealed the incident was likely drug related, authorities said in a release.

One man is dead after a Saturday night shooting in the 3000 block of Betty Jean Court just outside of Lilburn.

The Gwinnett County Police Department said reports of gunshots and screaming in the area of Gwens Trail were received at around 11:30 p.m.

Arriving officers found a man in his 20s dead from an apparent gunshot wound. 

The investigation is ongoing and little is known about the victim or what transpired. 

The victim’s name is being withheld until the next of kin can be notified.
