The Hall County Board of Commissioners voted Thursday night in favor of a 20-acre rezoning for the purpose of a business park in North Hall.
The area is located at 5052 Cagle Road and was previously zoned as Agricultural Residential prior to Thursday night's vote. The property has now been shifted to a Planned Industrial Development zoning, according to the Commissioner's unanimous vote.
The applicant is Gregg Poole, who also currently holds the District 3 Board of Commissioners seat where the property is located. Prior to the hearing on the matter, Poole excused himself from the hearing to avoid any conflicts of interest.
The land is currently undeveloped, but Poole is planning to construct a business park with four buildings ranging from 30,000 to 40,800 square feet, according to county documents. The proposed buildings will reportedly be used as offices and warehouses, with the possibility of a self-storage facility as well.
The Hall County Planning Commission voted in favor of the rezoning during their May 20 meeting. At that hearing, two citizens spoke against the development, citing concerns for infrastructure, traffic, noise, and environmental impact.
Some of the approved conditions for the property include only having access from Lula Highway, operating hours restricted to 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, and a fence and vegetated buffers included on the lot.
The Board of Commissioners' vote Thursday night was unanimously in favor of the rezoning, excluding Poole's vote.
