For the first time since late-January, the average price for gas is below three dollars per-gallon in Georgia.
AAA of Georgia's Montrae Waiters says Georgians are paying an average of $2.97 per gallon for regular unleaded gas today (Monday), which is nine cents below last week's average, and 27 cents lower than a month ago, an average price we have not seen since January 24th.
Waiters adds that a tepid demand for gasoline, and crude oil prices below $70 for a second straight week are "fueling" the price drop.
Hall County commuters will see an average of $2.89 per gallon, with the lowest average in northeast Georgia in Stephens County, at $2.82 per gallon, and the higheest average price in te area is located in Lumpmkin County, at around $3.06 per gallon.
Nationally, the average price for regular unleaded gasoline is just over $3.20 per gallon. According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand fell last week from 8.93 million barrels a day to 8.47 million. Also, total domestic gasoline stocks rose from 219.2 to 221.6 million barrels and gasoline production decreased last week.
