Victim identified from fatal crash Friday in Lumpkin County

Georgia State Patrol (GSP) has released more details behind the fatal crash in Lumpkin County late last week, including the identity of the victim involved.

A GSP crash report on Wednesday behind the wreck along State Route 52, just east of Buffington Road on Friday, September 13 indicates the driver of the truck, 84-year old Jack Wynn, of Dahlonega was killed when the 1994 Dodge Ram pickup he was driving started rotating, going off the roadway's shoulder and overturning several times before crashing into a tree. Wynn was reportedly wearing a seatbelt during the crash, and was still in the vehicle as local safety officials arrived on scene after 1:00 p.m. before Lumpkin County EMS was able to transport him to a nearby hospital.  Wynn reporetdly died from his injuries while the crash remains under investigation. No official word from GSP on what may have started the crash.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that happened Friday afternoon in Lumpkin County.

A report from the state patrol released Tuesday said the crash happened around 1:00 p.m. Friday on Ga. 52 near Buffington Road just east of Dahlonega. Officials said the driver of a 1994 Dodge Ram pickup truck was driving too fast for conditions and started rotating, eventually going off the shoulder of the road and overturning several times before hitting a tree.

No details about those inside the truck have been released, including names or how many people were inside. Officials have confirmed at least one person was killed in the crash.

No other vehicles were involved.
