A Dacula man was arrested Thursday after he attempted to enter Friendship Elementary School in Buford which prompted a lockdown of the school.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson B.J. Williams said Jhourdan Gibbs, 23 attempted to enter the school at around 8:45 a.m.

“He first pulled on the door handle and then signaled for assistance via the outside intercom,” Williams said. “Mr. Gibbs told a front office employee who answered the intercom he wanted to come inside to use the restroom.”

The employee refused and Gibbs went to other exterior doors in an alleged attempt to enter the school.

Gibbs quickly fled the property in his vehicle. HCSO investigators were able to track Gibbs to his home in Dacula, with the help of camera footage from the school.

Gibbs was arrested after questioning and charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass, loitering at a public school and disruption of a public school.

Gibbs remained in Hall County Jail custody as of Thursday afternoon.
