Hurricane Helene's impact on Northeast Georgia is not expected to reach full force until later Thursday, but an earlier storm in the area on Wednesday has already impacted parts of White County's roads.
An active list for the White County Public Safety department shows that before dawn on Thursday, September 26, more than 6 roads were partially or fully blocked due to downed trees or power lines, including Skitts Mountain Road, Albert Reid Road and Duncan Bridge Road, among others.
If you do not have to be out travelling on the roads, you are advised to seek shelter, particularly from Thursday afternoon through Friday morning. If you are essential workers, or need to be on the roads, you can check in with the White County Public Safety's website, through a link found here.
