With another round of snow in the rearview mirror, temperatures are slowly warming up for a great weekend around Northeast Georgia, and there are plenty of things to do!

EVENTS & FESTIVALS 

Event Name: Film Fest, A Night at the Movies, Dahlonega
Event Date & Time: Friday, January 24
Event Location: Holly Theater, 69 W Main St., Dahlonega
Event Details: Sozo Bear Presents: A Night at the Movies is an annual showcase of short films. Curated and presented by Dahlonega's very own Sozo Bear Films, the festival aims to bring great independent films to the North Georgia area. As the name suggests, "A Night At The Movies" is a one-night event that includes a red carpet photo-op, live Q&A’s with actors and filmmakers, and great films shown on the silver screen at the historic Holly Theatre in downtown Dahlonega, Georgia. Event Name: Community Dance, Sautee
Event Date & Time: Saturday, January 25, 7:30 – 10:30 p.m.
Event Location: Sautee Nacoochee Cultural Center, Historic Gym, Sautee
Event Details: Live music and a live caller. All are welcome! No partner or prior experience necessary. Bring a snack to share during the break. $12 Adults; $10 SNCA Member; $6 students (high school/college); children 12 and under, free.

Event Name: National Seed Swap Day, Duluth
Event Date & Time: Saturday, January 25, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Event Location: Gwinnett County Public Library, 3180 Main St., Duluth
Event Details: Don't miss the 4th Annual Seed Swap at the Duluth Branch. Learn from a Master Gardener, participate in a seed swap and have your gardening questions answered by an expert! Seed swaps in cities across the nation celebrate National Seed Swap Day each year on or around the last Saturday in January. The seed swap is a fundamental part of human history. Seeds were one of the first commodities valued and traded. Today, modern gardeners collect and exchange seeds for many reasons, ranging from cultivating rare, heirloom varieties to basic thrift. Come and exchange seeds from your gardens and take home some new ones to try.

Event Name: Cultural, Lunar New Year Festival, Stone Mountain

Event Details: The 2025 festival will celebrate the Year of the Snake! Stone Mountain Park is proud to host the third annual Lunar New Year Festival. This Asian-inspired festival pays tribute to the culture and New Year traditions of Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, and other countries that follow the lunar calendar. It features a special Lunar New Year Drone and Light Show on the largest screen in the world, a lighted parade, cultural craft activities, live entertainment, and other cultural elements.

Event Details: A1A – The Official and Original Jimmy Buffett Tribute Show was born in 1991 when Lead Vocalist and Guitarist Jeff Pike asked Atlanta Parrot Head Club, PHIP Founder, drummer, and harmonica player, Scott Nickerson to join him in his already successful one-man tribute to Jimmy Buffett. In 1992, the band won a Jimmy Buffett Sound Alike Contest for Margaritaville Records, and the A1A ball started rolling – a ball still rolling 31 years later. Tickets cost between $35-$45. Event Name: Ongoing, License to Chill Snow Island and Lakeside Lights Spectacular, Buford
Event Date & Time: Daily 2 – 10 p.m.

Event Details: Experience a winter wonderland in License to Chill Snow Island. Glide on the ice rink, enjoy carnival rides and go snow tubing.
