The Georgia Bureau of Investigation recently arrested Ryan Russell Blei, 31, of Jefferson on manufacturing methamphetamine charges after a fire on Saturday, Jan. 18.
A press release from the GBI said City of Jefferson Police and Fire personnel responded to a 911 call at 49 Martin Street in Jefferson.
Arriving units found that Blei had sustained substantial burns to his hands and arms.
Jefferson police then requested agents with the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office to assist with the investigation.
ARDEO agents identified the suspected cause of the fire to be an accident connected to the illicit manufacturing of meth.
After being treated for his injuries, Blei turned himself in to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
He was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine (felony), possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and three counts of reckless conduct (misdemeanor).
