Basketball: White Co. girls knock off CHS; NHall, White Co. boys win

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — In a battle for the No. 2 spot in the Region 6-3A standings, the White County girls basketball team pulled away in the final eight minutes to knock off Chestatee, 50-39, on the road on Wednesday. 

With the win, White County (17-5, 9-2 Region 6-3A) remains one game ahead of Dawson County. Chestatee (15-7, 7-4 Region 6-3A) dropped from third to fourth with the loss. 

Aslyn Burkett scored 20 points, and Kylie Watkins netted 17 to lead the Lady Warriors.

The game was tight most of the way, with the two teams tied at the end of the first 10-10. The Lady Warriors took a two-point advantage by halftime, 26-24. 

White County ended it with a six-point lead in a back-and-forth third quarter, 37-31. 

White County will travel to No. 1 Pickens on Friday, while Chestatee is at Dawson County. 


NORTH HALL BOYS 95, 
JOHNSON 71

Cole Hulsey scored 33 points to lead the Trojans past Johnson on Wednesday. 

Hulsey was one of three in double figures. Gunner Spain scored 18, and Walker Vining had 15. 


WHITE COUNTY BOYS 81, 
CHESTATEE 56

Blayne Gunter scored 27 points, and Cohen Michaud had 20 to lead the Warriors past Chestatee on the road Tuesday. 

Tripp Nix had 15, and Dawson Oliver added 10 in the win.
