Regions 8-5A and 84A will open their drive to the playoffs on Friday, with a pair of northeast Georgia teams on both the boys and girls getting things started.
Nearly a dozen matches are set to kick off around the area.
Habersham Central plays host to Loganville at Raiders Stadium in Mount Airy. For the boys, the Raiders (2-1, 0-0 Region 8-5A) were the 8-6A champions in 2024 and have played a tough opening stretch of games. The Lady Raiders (1-1, 0-0 Region 8-5A) also are coming off a region title in 2024 and are looking to open strong on Friday.
In Region 8-4A, East Forsyth will take on North Oconee at Broncos Stadium. The boys (1-1, 0-0 Region 8-4A) are coming off a 4-0 win over Lumpkin County on Tuesday, while the Lady Broncos (1-2, 0-0 Region 8-4A) are hoping to rebound from a loss to the Lady Indians on Tuesday.
However, the highlight of the night will be in Dalton in a powerhouse meeting between the Catamounts and the Johnson boys. However, the Knights (1-1) will be trying to shake off a 2-0 loss to North Forsyth on Tuesday. Dalton (2-0) is coming off a 3-0 win over McIntosh, who won the Class 5A state title in 2024.
