Hall County Schools Superintendent Will Schofield Announced Thursday his intent to recommend Leigh Wilson as the next Principal of Cherokee Bluff Middle School.

The district said in a Facebook post the recommendation will be made  at the Monday, March 10, 2025 board meeting. Wilson will take the place of Principal Robert Wilson, who has been selected to be the next Principal of Chicopee Woods Elementary School.

“I want to thank Mr. Schofield and the Board of Education for the opportunity to serve as principal of Cherokee Bluff Middle School,” Wilson said. “Having been a part of Cherokee Bluff since its beginning, I know what a special community we have. I look forward to joining in the incredible work that is already taking place and continuing to build on the strong foundation that has been set.”

Wilson initially began her career as a Special Education Paraprofessional at West Hall High School from 2008 to 2010.  In 2013, she transitioned to teaching mathematics at Chestatee High School through 2018 before joining the faculty at Cherokee Bluff High School, where she continued teaching mathematics from 2018 to 2020. In 2020, she moved into administration, serving as an Assistant Principal at both Cherokee Bluff High School and Middle School.  She currently serves as the Assistant Principal solely at Cherokee Bluff High School.

“Over the years Leigh Wilson has demonstrated a strong ability to lead—both in the community and as an instructor,” superintendent Will Schofield said in a release. “The Cherokee Bluff community respects her and knows that while loving the students under her care and supervision, she will also set the bar high and challenge them to be their very best. We are excited for the future of Cherokee Bluff Middle School under her leadership.”

Wilson earned an Associate’s Degree in Business from Gainesville State College, a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Secondary Education and a Master’s Degree in Mathematics Education from the University of North Georgia, and a Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Piedmont College.
