Mill Creek pounds Brookwood, 44-10 in game No. 99

HOSCHTON -- Mill Creek pounced on Brookwood early and often on Friday en route to a 44-10 win Hoschton.

The Hawks (2-0) hammered the Broncos for 470 yards of offense, while yielding just 116 total yards -- 12 rushing.

Mill Creek, meanwhile, rushed for 340 yards, including 91 and two scores for Carter Governale. DeVozea Felton also put up 82 yards and a score, while Johnathan Hawkins also added two scoring runs.

Mill Creek quarterback Daniel David finished the night 5 of 7 passing for 120 yards and a touchdown -- that coming on a 37-yard strike to Eric Ritland, as the Hawks raced to a 20-0 first quarter lead. Ritland finished the game with two catches for 68 yards.

The Hawks ensured a quiet second half by answering a second quarter field goal from Brookwood with a touchdown runs from Hawkins and Felton for a 34-3 halftime lead.

Mill Creek will look to keep rolling on Friday at Mountain View -- for the program's 100th career contest. The Hawks are 49-50 so far, including 41-28 over the past six seasons.
