HIAWASSEE - A motorcyclist was killed in Towns County late Friday night during a chase with the Georgia State Patrol, according to a news release from Sheriff's Office authorities.<br />

Troopers initiated the chase at 10:39 p.m. in Hiawassee, and the chase ended when the motorcyclist hit a Ford F150 truck that was pulling out of a private driveway onto Highway 76 in the Jacksonville area of Young Harris.<br />

Authorities identified the motorcyclist as Michael Cinquemano of Hiwassee. <br />
<br />
The driver of the truck was cited for driving under the influence. The driver's name has not yet been released.<br />
<br />
Troopers did not say yet what prompted them to chase the motorcycle.<br />
<br />
The investigation is ongoing.<br />
