GSU student from Cumming found dead in off-campus apartment

STATESBORO - A Georgia Southern University student from Forsyth County has been found dead in her off-campus apartment, according to Statesboro police.<br />

A report from WSAV-TV in Savannah said Brooke Edwards, an 18-year-old sophomore who graduated from North Forsyth High School in 2013, was found Friday. At this point, authorities are not releasing the cause of death.<br />
<br />
A Facebook post indicated Edwards sorority will hold a candlelight service in the young woman's memory Monday at 8 p.m.<br />
<br />
University officials said they have made counseling services available for GSU students. <br />
<br />
Just over two weeks ago, another GSU student - also from Cumming - was killed outside a bar in Statesboro. Michael Gatto, 18, a graduate of South Forsyth High School died from injuries sustained in a beating outside Rude Rudy's bar on August 28. A former bouncer at the bar has been charged in Gatto's death.<br />
