ATLANTA (AP) A middle school student has died after a medical emergency at a Clayton County school. <br />

Clayton Schools spokeswoman Vicki Constantinides said the girl was an eighth-grade student at Pointe South Middle School in Jonesboro. The girl was identified in a report in the Atlanta Journal Constitution as Andrea Pinson. <br />

School officials told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that they believe the student suffered a medical emergency Thursday morning. Staff members tended to the girl until an ambulance arrived. <br />
