State Properties Commission Board approves request for land for new Lanier Tech campus

ATLANTA — Lanier Techical College will have a new home on Georgia Highway 365 at Howard Road following a vote Wednesday morning by the Board of Directors of the State Properties Commission.

A spokeswoman for the Commission confirmed the vote via phone.

Under the agreement with the Technical College System of Georgia, the state will buy 85.5 acres of land from Gainesville Howard Road, LLC. Cost of the property is $75,000 per acre for a total cost of just over $6.4 million.

The Lanier Tech campus in Hall County is currently located in Oakwood on Landrum Education Drive just off Mundy Mill Road. Lanier Tech also has campuses in Barrow, Dawson, Forsyth and Jackson counties.

Representatives for Lanier Tech were not available for immediate comment on the Commission vote.
