GAINESVILLE — For the second time in a week, Hall County Animal Control has reported a confirmed case of rabies in the county.
The latest incident happened on Campground Road in the north Hall area where a dog came into contact with a rabid raccoon. Positive alert signs have been posted in the area to let residents know there could be rabid animals in the neighborhood.
Residents who live in this area who see an animal acting abnormally are encouraged to contact Hall County Animal Services at 770-531-6830 or call Hall County Dispatch at 770-536-8812 during non-working hours.
This case is the 10th in Hall County for 2015.
Animal owners are encouraged to vaccinate their domesticated pets for rabies. Vaccines are available at the Hall County Animal Shelter for $10 Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 1688 Barber Road, Gainesville.
