College basketball player from Ga. drowns in Indiana reservoir

By Associated Press

CICERO, Ind. (AP) A University of Indianapolis basketball player, who played high school ball at Milton High School in Alpharetta, has drowned after officials say he fell into an Indiana reservoir without a lifejacket.

A dive team found the body of 22-year-old senior Dai-Jon Parker around 6 p.m. Thursday at the bottom of Morse Reservoir, north of Indianapolis.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources confirmed Parker's identity on Friday. The university issued a statement saying the campus community was mourning the tragedy.

Witnesses who were with Parker say he was being pulled on an inner tube behind a boat and fell off after hitting a large wave. They didn't see him resurface.

Parker, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, spent three seasons at Vanderbilt before transferring to Indianapolis. He started all 31 games last season, helping the Greyhounds reach Division II's Sweet 16 for the first time.
