Parrish named Deputy Chief for Gainesville PD

GAINESVILLE — The Gainesville Police Department has a new Deputy Chief.

According to a press release from the department, Capt. Jay Parrish will be promoted to the Deputy Chief's post effective August 3, 2015.
 
Parrish has served in a number of capacities in the Gainesville Police Department: Patrol Officer, Detective, Training Division Director and Captain of the Support Services Bureau.

Parrish is a lifelong resident of Hall County, according to Gainesville Police Chief Carol Martin. He is a 1995 graduate of North Hall High School and graduated from North Georgia College and State University in 1999 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.  He honorably served six years in the United States Marine Corp Reserve. In addition, Parrish is a graduate of the University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute Management Development Program. Recently, he graduated from the  260th session of the FBI National Academy.

"Deputy Chief Parrish brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the critical task of protecting our great city," said Martin.

"As Deputy Chief, Jay will help lead one of the most professional agencies in the state of Georgia, the Gainesville Police Department. Deputy Chief Parrish is a dedicated professional that has demonstrated what it takes to help this department uphold the legacy of historic achievements and sacrifices made throughout its history."
