The man suspected of shooting and injuring a teenager at a Gainesville gas station last week is now in custody.
The Gainesville Police Department announced on social media Tuesday afternoon that Pablino Garcia, age 21 of Gainesville, turned himself in at police headquarters on Queen City Parkway earlier in the day.
Garcia was accused of shooting a 15-year-old boy at the Wee Willy's store on Jesse Jewel Parkway on the night of Thursday, Mar. 6. The victim was reportedly struck multiple times in the shooting.
Gainesville Police Lt. Kevin Holbrook said that victim remained hospitalized in critical condition as of Tuesday afternoon. He added that the exact motives for the shooting are still not clear.
"We do know that Garcia and others met at the store for an arranged transaction. It wasn't clear exactly what that transaction was," Holbrook said.
Garcia faces multiple charges of aggravated assault. He's currently being held in the Hall County Jail. Holbrook said Garcia turned himself in with the aid of legal counsel.
"It's believed that some friends and/or family were able to make contact with him. They did talk him into turning himself in," Holbrook said.
