A father and son from Tennessee have been charged in connection with a crash that killed an elderly Norcross couple late Thursday night.
Gwinnett County police said Larry Thomas, 47, was driving a vehicle being pursued by John's Creek police officers southbound on Peachtree Parkway. As the vehicle traveled near the intersection of Jay Bird Alley, it collided with another vehicle. The two people in that vehicle were killed.
The victims in the crash have been identified as Kryzysztof Krawczynski, 77, and his wife Elzbieta Gurtler-Krawczynska, 78. The couple lived in Norcross.
Both Thomas and his son, 18-year-old Jesse Thomas, were taken to the hospital for treatment. They have since been released and booked into the Gwinnett County Detention Center.
Larry Thomas faces the following charges, according to a Gwinnett Police Department statement: two counts of vehicular homicide, serious injury to the passenger of his vehicle (Jesse Thomas), DUI, fleeing/attempting to elude a police officer, reckless driving, speeding and other traffic offenses. He also faces charges of drug possession and trafficking, and he has been charged with possession of a gun during commission of a felony.
Jesse Thomas also faces charges in Gwinnett County including the possession of marijuana, LSD and cocaine. He also faces drug trafficking charges and gun possession charges.
The John's Creek Police Department is also expected to file charges against the two men.
