The Gainesville-Hall County Community Council on Aging will honor Bob Hamrick and Myrtle Figueras with its 2nd Annual Quality of Life Award later this year.
According to a press release from the organization, Figueras and Hamrick, longtime Gainesville City Council members who stepped down at the end of last year, were chosen as recipients of this special honor because of their commitment to making life better for the residents and businesses of Gainesville-Hall County.
Hamrick served on the council for 47 years and Figueras was a member of the body for 20 years.
They will be presented with their awards May 12 at the Gainesville Civic Center.
