Man arrested in shooting death of Walmart security guard

By Associated Press

LILBURN, Ga. (AP) Authorities say a man has been arrested in the death of a security guard who was fatally shot outside a metro Atlanta Walmart.

Lilburn police said in a statement Tuesday that 37-year-old Boaz Anthony Fordyce is charged with murder, aggravated assault and theft by shoplifting in the death of 25-year-old Jaseramie Dion "JD'' Ferguson.

Ferguson was shot Sunday night when he and another guard approached a man who was attempting to steal three televisions from the Lilburn store.

Police released a photo of the suspect from surveillance video. Authorities say Fordyce was found in unincorporated DeKalb County.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Ferguson was a married father of three.

Gwinnett County jail records say Fordyce is being held without bond.
