The town of Clermont once again finds itself shorthanded on its city council.
Councilman Eric Thomas submitted a letter of resignation at Tuesday night's meeting, and council members voted to accept the resignation, according to Town Clerk Sandra Helton.
Clermont has struggled to keep a full council in place since last fall when one elected official passed away before he could take office and another resigned and no one qualified to fill the post.
Helton said the council plans to hold a special election to fill Thomas' post in November. The city attorney is working on logistics of the election.
