Hall County Emergency Management is partnering with the National Weather Service to provide residents with the opportunity to learn how to become a certified storm spotter.
The Skywarn Storm Spotter Training class will teach participants about the importance of storm spotters, the basics of thunderstorms, and the relationship between the National Weather Service, the media and emergency management. Basic radar interpretation will also be discussed, and attendees will learn how to identify storm and potential severe weather features.
"Anyone with an interest in weather would greatly benefit from participating in the class," said Hall County EMA Director David Kimbrell. "This program has trained more than 230,000 severe weather spotters, who help keep their communities safe by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the National Weather Service."
The Skywarn Storm Spotter Training class will be held Thursday, Feb. 2 at 5:30 p.m. at the Spout Springs Library. There is no fee to attend and registration is not required.
