The Thursday afternoon rush around around downtown Gainesville will likely be more congested than usual, according to the Gainesville Police Department.
In a press statement, the department said the annual Gainesville High School homecoming parade will mean the Gainesville Square will be closed to traffic from 5:30 p.m. to around 6:45 p.m. The Square will be blocked at Maple Street, Spring Street and Washington Street.
Officers are asking motorists to use alternate routes around the route to avoid any delays or congestion.
