Sixteen students were taken to two hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries after a Monday afternoon school bus wreck in Gilmer County.
The bus was transporting students from Clear Creek Middle School when it apparently veered off Yukon Road and flipped onto its side, according to authorities. Students were evacuated through the back and a roof hatch. The students who were uninjured were taken back to the school to be picked up parents. The bus driver was not injured.
School Superintendent Dr. Shanna Wilkes told the Georgia News Network it was raining at the time of the accident.
