Hall County woman drowns in Lake Lanier

By B.J. Williams

Hall County authorities believe a drowning on Lake Lanier earlier this week was accidental.

Hall County Sheriff's Lt. Scott Ware said deputies responded to Holiday Marina around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday following a 911 call about a woman's body in the water.

"Deputies were directed to Dock Q along with personnel from Hall County Fire Services, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers,"  Ware said in a press statement. "Emergency crews retrieved the woman from the lake near the dock and attempted CPR, but the victim was pronounced dead."

Ware identified the victim as Teresa Ann Graham, 51, of Hall County.

Ware said Graham's husband and another witness found her body in the water.

"A witness told law enforcement that he’d spotted her around 7 p.m. on foot, headed to a restaurant in the marina.  Shortly before dark, the witness noticed her coming down to the dock from a parking lot," Ware said.

Investigators said Graham had been staying on a boat at the marina.

Graham's body was sent to the DeKalb County Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

Ware said while officers do not suspect foul play, an investigation into Graham's death is ongoing.
