Suwanee looks to expand, or replace, municipal court building

While it remains in the early stages, Suwanee City Council is taking a look at a few options for expanding, or moving, its municipal court building.

The current building, which is approximately 3,800 square-feet, sits along Buford Highway, across from Town Center Park.

"Our judges have requested, and we agree, that it's time to do an expansion, so we're evaluating a few different concepts and options," said Marty Allen, city manager.

That includes the possibility of building onto the existing building, constructing a new one or purchasing something elsewhere.

As far as a time frame, Allen said it's still too early to establish one.

"Those are all good questions that we're evaluating right now. We're evaluating different options ... [and] those are all in the exploratory phases," said Allen.

The municipal court is used for adjudicating traffic offenses and violations of city ordinances, including animal control.
