A Franklin County man will be extradited to Virginia following his arrest this week for the online sexual exploitation of children.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced the arrest of Matthew Daniel Seay, 36, of Martin on Friday morning.
State agents issued warrants for Seay for "the use of communication systems to facilitate certain offenses involving children," according to a press statement from the GBI.
Seay is also believed responsible for using his computer for the sexual exploitation of victims under the age of 15 in other states, as well. The GBI did not say how many additional victims there might be.
This investigation is part of the ongoing effort by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force housed within the GBI’s CEACC Unit to identify those involved in the child pornography trade.
The GBI’s Athens Field Office, the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office assisted the GBI CEACC Unit in the search warrant of Seay’s home and Seay’s arrest.
At last report, Seay was in custody at the Franklin County Jail awaiting transport to Virginia.
