*Sugar Hill has been named a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of its commitment to “effective urban forest management.”  In order to qualify for the designation, the city had to meet the program’s four requirements: a tree board or department, a tree ordinance, an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita as well as an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.

*Flowery Branch City Clerk Melissa McCain has been elected to serve as Vice President of the Georgia Municipal Clerks Association for 2020.  She was sworn in during the Annual Business Meeting on February 3 at Jekyll Island. 

*The Georgia Mountains Regional Commission’s Career Coach will visit the Good Samaritan Food Bank in Gainesville  February 26-27, 9:00-11:00, to help job-seekers with their search for work.

*For the seventh time in eight years, the University of North Georgia has been named a Military Friendly Schools by Victory Media.

*Brandon Carey, Paramedicine Technology Instructor, at Lanier Technical College, has been named 2020 Georgia EMS Educator of the Year by the Georgia Emergency Services Association.

*Brownies by Faith has been named Entrepreneur of the Year by the Habersham Chamber of Commerce. WCON-FM was named Business of the Year, and Kinetic by Windstream, Industry of the Year.
