As police continue to search for three suspects in a home invasion Monday afternoon in Gainesville, four of those involved and previously arrested are now facing additional charges.
Montavious Cooper and Jermaine Stephens, both of whom are accused of opening fire into the apartment on Spring Valley Drive during the home invasion, were additionally charged with two counts each of aggravated assault, two counts each of armed robbery and one count each of obstruction, Gainesville Police Cpl. Jessica Van said Friday afternoon.
One of the occupants of the apartment, Austin Owens, was charged with felony drug charges at the time of the incident, but he does not face any new charges, according to Van.
Krystal Foster-Simmons, who was originally charged with party to a crime after she was reported as a suspicious driver near the neighborhood, now also faces one count of possession of a schedule IV drug and on misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana.
Police were attempting to respond to a shots fired call during the home invasion, Van said, which escalated into a car chase, a car crash, a boat being stolen and then crashed, with at least seven people involved.
"There are still three suspects, and right now we don't have much information except that they were identified as black males that were among the five suspects in the Jetta," said Van. The three men's identities remain under investigation.
