Four suspects arrested after a chase on GA-400

A chase on GA-400 between a suspect and Forsyth County deputy on Saturday ended with four people arrested.

The four women in the car were shoplifting suspects. The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office had issued a “BOLO” (Be On the Lookout) for four women who had just stolen items from a store at the outlet mall. They described the Ford Fusion as heading south on GA-400.

A Forsyth County deputy spotted the Ford Fusion driving erratically on GA400. According to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, the car also had a paper tag. The car initially responded to the deputy by pulling over on the side of 400 just before Exit 13, but when the deputy used a PA system to tell the driver to get out of the car, the driver sped away instead.

After a brief chase, the deputy performed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT), causing the car to spin out into the grass on the side of the road.

All four women in the car were arrested after officers found fake money. They also discovered one of the women had a warrant out for her arrest for stealing a car.

Brenaldia Stephens, 27 of Atlanta, was charged with Reckless Driving, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude, and Possession of Marijuana. She is being held on an $8,915 bond.

Marquita Thomas, 23 of Atlanta, was found with $700 in fake U.S. currency. She is being charged with Forgery 2nd degree and is held on a $4,420 bond.

Both Stephens and Thomas were booked into the Forsyth County Jail.

Deshauna Herd, 20 of Atlanta, and Jasmine Canty, 21 of Conyers, were also taken to the Dawson County jail. Canty was found to have an arrest warrant out of Gwinnett County for hijacking a motor vehicle.
